My client, a well established manufacturer based in Shrewsbury, has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Production Planner to manage and control the overall plan, based on both demand and quality standards. This is a key role within the business, overseeing production and inventory control through effective Supply Planning and Demand Planning.
The role will have direct responsibility for achieving significant cost saving through an effective S&OP process, ensuring that all components are in place to drive the plan and achieve all service level targets, but with optimal inventory levels held
The Role
- Producing the weekly production plan for the business
- Ensuring that there is always sufficient stock of finished goods and components
- Creating and managing the overall monthly demand forecast to drive the production plan
- Developing the production schedules using data analysis to make decisions
- Attend and lead the weekly Production Planning meeting
- Ensure that correct item data is in the main system to accurately run MRP (supplier lead times, minimum order quantities, reorder levels)
- Placing purchase orders from external suppliers
- Managing supplier performance and reporting this regularly to the business
- Ensure that components are purchased at the best commercial terms
- Organise the importing of goods from overseas suppliers and arrange transport for the collections of these goods
- Produce regular reports to help drive efficiencies and cost savings
- Assist with Quality Reviews (ISO9001)
- Submit WEEE regulatory information
- Represent the business to suppliers and customers in a polite and courteous manner
The Candidate
- Proven experience as a Production Planner
- Good knowledge of Production Planning and Quality Control principles
- MRP experience
- Experience of using ERP systems on a regular basis (specifically SAP Business One would be advantageous although not essential)
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with staff, stakeholders and suppliers
- Very strong problem solving and organisational skills with ability to work on own initiative a key requirement
- Assertive, resilient and welcomes change
- A proactive approach with regards to cost saving and efficiency opportunities
- Good interpersonal and influencing skills
- Good time management skills, with the ability to work to schedules and follow procedures
- Strong MS Office skills in Excel and Word
- Very analytical with strong problem solving skills
- Customer focused around the key customer needs
The role will be site based for 5 days per week. Hours are 8:30am to 5:00pm Monday to Thursday and 8:30am to 4:00pm on Fridays.
Salary is between £30,000 and £32,000 per annum dependent on experience. Profit share scheme also available, based on the company meeting the profitability targets
